Before we talk about sin, I’d like to admit
I’m as guilty as they come
I’m unworthy of love meant to last
Go the other way fast
I don’t come with airbags
And my tires are slashed
So please don’t waste your gas
On a car already crashed
I’m junkyard trash.
How many times can I watch people getting hurt before I start to think the problem is me?
I stand accused of breaking hearts, of narcissism, and of my fair share of toxicity
But - if I may play Devil’s Advocate - and I know that’s not allowed -
What if I don’t wanna plead innocence - I’m the one who leaves first - and I’m proud?
Where are the breakup poems for the ones that pull the trigger?
Not because of abuse or violence or infidelity -
But because -
Well,
We can fill that blank with all the nice-sounding stories we tell ourselves
