Everyone should do open mics.

It doesn’t matter that you don’t think you are a good speaker,

oder wenn du viel Fehler machst, veil dein Grammatik nicht perfect ist (or if you make lots of mistakes, because your grammar isn’t perfect)

It doesn’t matter that you “can’t write well”

or that you stumble over your words

or sing out-of-key.

To become comfortable getting on-stage

is to become comfortable being seen

is to become comfortable being real

is to become comfortable being confidently imperfect and vulnerable

is to become comfortable being human

and we all need to do our part

to normalise all of that.

if I ever start a club, a company, or a cult (or all three)

I will definitely do a weekly ritual

where everyone gets at least 5 minutes on-stage

to do whatever they want.
